From the tumblr neohamiltonism: liebemarlene vintage: Serenbe Farm.
neohamiltonism is run by Joachim and a few of his friends (if I remember correctly?) and curates photos that exhibit “the resurgence of the David Hamilton feel in contemporary photography.” It’s enjoyable, cheesy, silly, and beautiful, all at once. Seems like a great response to some tumblog themes I considered recently.

An article about the increasing trend in vintage/found objects, especially those that are Victorian or related to nature — taxidermy specimens, old books, etc. I found the article especially interesting, since one common thread in my interests seems to be a love of the “obsolete” — letterpress, large format photography, etc. There’s something to be said for the more tactile experiences in today’s technology saturated world.
(I’ve been sitting on this one for a while. I’ve been so busy since school started, and I’ve had dozens and dozens of tabs open for weeks. Been meaning to post this for maybe three weeks…)
From the artist: “I am Peruvian by blood and birth, but I’ve grown up an American. In the US, and in most places, I feel like I am in a city, region, or nation—those intangible creations of people. But in Lima, I felt not like I was in a city, in Peru, or even South America, but atop the Earth herself.”

Amanda came over Friday and we made an unbelievably delicious and magical pie, which we decided shall be called Pie Potion #9. I didn’t have any whole wheat ingredients and also had no almonds, so we made a basic crust without the almond paste. Essentially, we made a crust, filled the unbaked crust with raspberries and blackberries and a little sugar and lemon juice, then baked it until the crust was done. Serve with a dollop of raspberry preserves, and you’ve got just about the best pie ever known to man. I’ll be perfecting this recipe for sure, and I can’t wait to add the almonds next time… Too bad berry season’s nearly finished. I could eat this pie every day. Amanda and I polished off half of it in one sitting.

Obsessives: Soda Pop
John Nese is the proprietor of Galcos Soda Pop Stop in LA. His father ran it as a grocery store, and when the time came for John to take charge, he decided to convert it into the ultimate soda-lovers destination. About 500 pops line the shelves, sourced lovingly by John from around the world. John has made it his mission to keep small soda-makers afloat and help them find their consumers. Galcos also acts as a distributor for restaurants and bars along the West Coast, spreading the gospel of soda made with cane sugar (no high-fructose corn syrup if John can avoid it).
