Massive facebook FAIL. I mean…seriously?
last night’s sunset
Glad someone documented this. That weather was nuts! There were tornado sirens in New York, people. Rainbows and black clouds simultaneously.
Long-time friends, first-time meet-up (via Glynnis Ritchie)
GPOYS, because when one is irregularly gratuitious, gratuitousness often happens multiple times in a few hours.
I met Ben for breakfast a few days ago. It was the first time we ever found ourselves in the same city, even after almost five years of living in neighboring states. A mutual friend I met during a summer program demanded that Ben and I begin communicating, since according to her we had too much in common and were too like-minded not to be great friends. Emails and phone calls ensued, but this week was the first time we met! When we started talking, I never would have imagined we’d meet for the first time five years later over breakfast in New York City. Life is pretty incredible sometimes.
The Natural History Museum (via Glynnis Ritchie)
Went museuming today for the first time since I arrived, and really enjoyed the Natural History Museum. It’s one of the best natural history museums I’ve visited; I highly recommend it.
I also wandered over to the Met and saw a Francis Bacon exhibit, which I liked so much I came away with postcards and a book. If you’re in NYC, get thee to the museums! It’s probably what I’ll be doing every weekend that I’m here. If you know of something I should see or if you would like to tag along, send me a email!
Time Wastes Too Fast - And the Pursuit of Happiness Blog - NYTimes.com
This is a cool piece on Thomas Jefferson from the Pursuit of Happiness blog. He was a pretty cool dude. I didn’t know, though, that the slave who bore six of his children was also his wife’s half-sister. That’s a pretty huge FML moment for Martha, right? So…yay for Jefferson minus slaves and sexcapades? Good job building that cool house?
leaving Paris (via Joachim)
GPOYS, because I never remember on Wednesday, and I am pretty irregularly gratuitious.
This one’s from two days before I left Paris, which might explain why I look like someone has just died, though more likely it was a moment of metro pensiveness, since it was a delightful day. Joachim just got these developed, but I think it might be the last of Paris portraits for a little while.

Fall Internship Pays Off With Coveted Winter Internship
NEW YORK—New York University student Dave Werner announced Monday that he has successfully parlayed an unpaid fall internship at the magazine GQ into a long-sought-after unpaid winter internship at the ESPN network. “After three months spent fetching coffee and making copies, all my hard work has finally paid off,” the 21-year-old communications major said as he dropped off executive assistant Matt Sullivan’s dry cleaning at a local laundromat. “These days, I’m totally in charge of taking lunch orders, and some of the people I work with already sort of know my name. What an invaluable experience.” Werner added that his main goal is to use his connections at ESPN to secure a highly desirable spring internship that could possibly offer school credit and a modest travel stipend.

I feel like we will be the most interny, late-to-enter-the-actual-workforce generation this world has seen in some time. And perhaps with more degrees and education than previously thought possible.
